How to Swap

To place a ‘classified ad’ or a ‘swap’ is easy and fun.

Step 1:- Register with Vimads Register Now

How to register:-

Half way down on the homepage, on the left hand side you will find written in orange ‘Not a member, register now’.

Click into this and a form will appear. Fill in all the required fields.

Congratulations, you are now a member of Vimads and can enjoy all the benefits Vimads has to offer.

Step 2:- Log into your account Log in

After you have logged in, you will be taken to ‘my Vimads area’.

When you look left on this page you will see navigation buttons. They will stay there for as long as you are logged in.

You will also see multiple coloured navigation buttons in the centre of the page.

To place an ad:- Place an ad

Click the button that says ‘place an advert’

Start off by selecting whether you would like to ‘sell’ (place a classified ad), ‘swap’, or ‘swap and sell’ your product.

You must decide which of these options would work best for you.

When you select the ‘swap’ or ‘swap and sell’ options, you will see 6 boxes appear under those options. In these boxes you can type in 6 examples of what you are willing to swap your product for.

Give your product a name and description and then you can upload as many as 3 free photos.

Select the category your product falls under. Every category has sub-categories. Most of the sub-categories have more sub-categories.

Make sure your product is listed under the correct category and sub-categories; in order to give your item the best chance.

If requested, enter the price you would like to sell your product for.

Then select a time period for the length of time you wish your ad to run for.

When you are happy with your selections, click the ‘submit’ button.

Your product will now be advertised.

Acceptee – The person who can accept or reject a swap offer made to him.

Offeree – The person that has made a swap request for another listing.

Swaps Requested

This page will list all the items you wish to swap.

Each banner shows your listed item for swapping.

The banners have the following information displayed in them; they are split into a 3 column format:

(1st column) A title, a photo,

(2nd column) Date of expiry [e.g. Expires on: …],

(3rd column) The number of people who have offered you a swap for this particular item.

If you click the photo or title, you will go to the big ad page where you can accept or reject a swap request made to you.

Your Requested Swaps

(In this case you are asking to swap your product for someone else's)

This page is where you can see the requested swaps made by you to another member.

The banners have the following information displayed in them; they are split into a 3 column format:

(1st column) In this column it will have your item.

(3rd column) In this column it will have the other members item.

In these columns 1 and 3 the following information is displayed:

A photo, a title, a description, a date of expiry [e.g. Expires on: …], and distance in miles.

(2nd column) In this column it displays the status of the swap request.

It will say one of the following words:

‘Rejected,

Accepted,

Withdrawn or

In progress’.

‘In Progress’ [Acceptee has not selected a conclusive option]

‘Accepted’ [The acceptee has selected the swap request]

‘Rejected’ [The acceptee has rejected the swap request]

‘Withdrawn’ [The offeree has withdrawn his swap request]

If the status of the item changes to ‘rejected or withdrawn’; a ‘delete’ button will appear in the banner. This is where you delete the banner from the list and make a new swap request.

When an item has been accepted:

The banner will disappear from the ‘your requested swaps’ page.

A similar banner will appear in the ‘in negotiation (swaps)’ page.

This middle column will always have a withdraw button.

When the ‘withdraw’ button is selected the swap request will be withdrawn and the status will say ‘withdrawn’; a delete button will then appear.

If the delete button is selected, the banner will disappear.

The Acceptee will no longer have the option to select this item.

The option to ‘accept’ or ‘reject’ will disappear from the banner underneath their listing.

The Acceptee will then see on his banner ‘This item has been withdrawn’. However, only the Acceptee will see the change in status. The banner on the main listings page will remain the same (undisturbed).

The ‘In negotiation (swaps)’ page

This page will list all the accepted swap items.

Make sure you send your address and have received their address before you proceed with the transaction.

The banners will have the following information displayed on them; they are split into a 3 column format:

(1st and 3rd column) In columns 1 and 3 the following information is displayed:

A photo, a title, a description, and distance in miles.

If you click on the photo or title, you can view the full listing.

(2nd column) The middle column will always display a ‘contact swapee’ ‘and ‘withdraw’ button.

However, please note that as soon as one party has selected the ‘Item sent’ button, the ‘withdraw’ option will disappear from both parties banners.

In cases when an item has been withdrawn, the only buttons on display will be the status button as ‘withdrawn’, ‘contact swapee’ and ‘delete.

The status of the swap (in red) will show the following words, which change dependant on the stage of the transaction:

‘Accepted,

Withdrawn,

In transit,

Transaction completed’.

Once a swap has been agreed by both parties, they will both have to click the following and appropriate buttons:

‘Item sent’ and then ‘Item received’.

When the ‘Item sent’ option is selected, the status area will display to the other party ‘In transit’.

Each party will be updated individually on the transaction status.

E.g. if swapee 1 sends their item and selects the ‘item sent’ option, swapee 2 will see that the item is ‘in transit’. At this point, swapee 2 will have another button appear named ‘item received’.

Swapee 1 will still see the words in the status area ‘accepted’. This status info will not change until swapee 2 has selected the ‘item sent’ option. At this point, swapee 1 will have the ‘item received’ button appear.

(Please note: Once the ‘item sent’ button has been selected by a swapee it disappears. But, only when the other party selects the ‘item sent’ button will the ‘item received’ button appear).

The status will only say ‘Transaction completed’ once both parties have received their items and selected the ‘Item received’ button.

Please note that as soon as one party has selected the ‘Item sent’ button, the ‘withdraw’ option will disappear from both parties.

Once the ‘Transaction completed’ status appears, a ‘delete’ button must appear in the centre column.
